Yohoho Puzzle Pirates

Camera
This is not an issue, as Puzzle Pirates is not a moving 3d environment. The camera is fixed always in a place that makes it easy to see the world and the player has no control over the camera.

Controls
This is a point and click game but moving around the world is very easy. Activating the puzzles and doing anything your pirate needs to do it very easy to do with the controls. 4 out of 5.

Newb Friendly
YPP is very easy to pick up and play by anyone of any age. The game even starts you out looking at the mission board where you can select missions that will teach the player how to do pirate things and move about. The game makes it clear where to get more help and offers several choices to do so. 5 out of 5.

Visually Pleasing
The game is a bit cartoony looking and looks more 2d than 3d, but I don’t notice any visual flaws. The style isn’t for everyone. 3 out of 5

Lack of Chat Spam
There is no global chat system. Players must be in a chat circle with others payers, in the same building, or on the same ship. On the occasion another player will try to spam, but the power to stop spam is in the hands of your own player. You can mute, blackspot, or plank if you are on your own ship or in your house. Spammers are also often complained to the OMs and reported. 5 out of 5

Gear Varity
Any pirate that can afford it can wear almost anything they wish to buy at the tailor stall. They can purchase any sword they can afford, as well as any bludgeon. A pirate even has a wide range of different ship types of which to buy and pillage in. All of which have a large range of colors, even ships can be painted. 5 out of 5

Custom Chars
You can not pick your height or body type, but there is a nice selection of hair styles and hair colors. There is also a nice selection of skin tones. At anytime a player wishes they can buy potions in-game to change any of this. The ability to change these things after the fact, increases this game’s score to a 4 out of 5

Custom Build
You can work on whatever puzzles you wish as you wish, you don’t even have to be a pirate but can sit around the inn all day playing various card games or other parlor games. There are no levels and attributes, just standings and rankings. 5 out of 5.

Community
This game is highly social so naturally it’ll have a large variety of good players and bad trolls. The community will also change and be affected by which ocean you choose to be on. Often you’ll be lucky enough to find a good crew and flag and will focus on them as your community, but the politics of the game is in the hands of the players and it’s dealing with the drama that brings this score down to a 3 out of 5.

Player Ran
This game is very player ran. The economics, the politics, almost everything is in the hands of the players. Players take and control islands, building shops on them as they see fit. Player run stalls of all variety to control the economics. 5 out of 5.

Player Houses
You get a shack for free with two cheap pieces of furniture. There is a large variety of house types to buy in the game however with a large variety of furniture to place in them. Like everything else the paint colors of almost everything is up to the player in question. 5 out of 5

Pets, Mounts, and Familiars
There are no mounts in Puzzle Pirates, but there are a range of pets to pick from. Each player gets a rat for free of random color. Familiars are more expensive and harder to come by, but there are different types and colors for them as well. 4 out of 5.

Total: 4 out of 5
Hours played before review: several yrs worth
